In 1950, a small but energetic group of five car enthusiasts were interested in forming an automobile club representing South-Central Pennsylvania. At the time, the area was overseen by the Allegheny Region AACA which was opposed to dividing the region. Those five enthusiasts were not deterred, and formed the Brass Age Car Club. In 1953, after growing to about 78 members, the Brass Age Car Club requested to become affiliated with the AACA. On February 17, 1953 the Brass Age Car Club became known as the The Gettysburg Region Antique Automobile Club of America. To this day, we still recognize those five enthusiasts that formed the Brass Age Car Club, and refer to them as the Founding Members. Ernest Simpson, Donald Feeser, Austin Ruth, John Basehoar, and Edward Emerson set the foundation for what we know as the Gettysburg Region AACA today. In addition to those Founding Members, the other 73 people that saw the transition from Brass Age Car Club to the Gettysburg Region AACA are recognized as our Charter Members. These individuals are listed on the Gettysburg Region website.
